Powering its 15 double-ended carbon-steel blades is a 148cc Briggs & Stratton 450-Series engine; a four-stroke air-cooled unit that’s immensely popular amongst gardeners worldwide thanks to its reliability; fuel-economy; and dependable starting (it’s equipped with B & S’s Magnetron® electronic ignition system)

The Apache SC42 Petrol Scarifier has a generous 42cm working-width, so it’s a fast and efficient performer over more expansive areas.

It has an adjustable working-depth, which is easily controlled using a convenient handlebar-mounted lever; and it runs on hardwearing double ball-bearing-mounted wheels that won’t stiffen with age, and which make it easy to push over bumpy ground.

Other noteworthy features include a folding handlebar which helps save space in your shed; and a 40-litre debris-catcher for a neat and tidy lawn once you’ve finished scarifying (a sprung deflector makes it possible to work without the bag where collection isn’t required).
